Visit to Tacloban

by admin

Typhoon Haiyan’s wrecked havoc in multiple cities in the Philippines. News reporters showed us footage of cities completely swept away, damaged homes, debris everywhere and many faces filled with sadness and confusion.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez gathered a team together from Pinoy Relief to get a first hand look at how the Philippines was really affected. They shared their photos of their journey.IMG_0995

From an aerial view, the damage can be seen. Buildings are destroyed and many homes have been damaged or wiped out completely.

With a closer look, we see how powerful Typhoon Haiyan was. People have been living under roofs made of tarp and tents provided by NGOs in the area.

Schools are completely wiped out forcing students to learn in tents and classrooms of poor conditions.

Tony Alvarez, co-chair of Pinoy Relief, speaks to students. It’s clear to see, although they lost so much, they are still smiling and hopeful.

Pinoy Relief is still working to provide hope to those who have lost so much. Please donate at PinoyRelief.org and check back for updates on our efforts in helping those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
