Typhoon Haiyan effect on Education
Because of Typhoon Haiyan 1.7M children and youth displaced. 4,600 public school classrooms were totally destroyed and 13,000 public school classrooms were partially damaged. Pinoy Relief has come to their aid with making temporary classrooms for the children so they can continue their studies and also keep safe.
In majorly affected areas such as Taytay and Guiuan, there has been re-opening of schools and classes have resumed on the remaining facilities or in tents.
There is a limited amount of space causing different grades sharing tents and are taking turns with different class times. These classrooms are a safe haven for the children because they are keeping them out of trouble and providing hope that things will get better.
They now have a place that is safe and secure while their parents can re-build their livelihood. These children are in danger of being exploited or abused. Pinoy Relief is helping to provide a place for kids to stay during the day. Your support is needed daily. For more information and to make a donation, visit PinoyRelief.org
